Gendered Spaces: Challenging the Binary and Embracing Diversity

On March 22nd, 2023, the Department of Chemistry conducted a session titled "Gendered Spaces: Challenging the Binary and Embracing Diversity." The session was handled by Ms. Thasmiya Rasheed, an Assistant Professor of the Department of English. The objective of the session was to create awareness about gender diversity and challenge the traditional binary notions of gender that often marginalize individuals who do not conform to the norms.

During the session, Ms. Rasheed discussed the societal constructs that have created gendered spaces and how they have been perpetuated over time. She also highlighted the importance of acknowledging and accepting gender diversity in all its forms. The participants were encouraged to challenge the binary and embrace the diversity of gender identities and expressions. The session provided valuable insights into the ways in which gendered spaces can be inclusive and diverse, and highlighted the need for continued efforts to create safe and welcoming environments for all individuals regardless of their gender identity.
