NATIONAL CADET CORPS (N C C)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is one of the largest uniformed youth organizations in the world. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis as a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, the Navy and the Air Wing, engaged for developing the youth in the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will be serving to the nation regardless of career they choose. The NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.

A sub-unit of the 5 KERALA BN NCC, Wayanad was sanctioned to W M O Arts & Science College in the academic year 2019-2020, with an allotted strength of 106. Mr. Santhosh Kumar C G, Assistant Professor of Mathematics is the caretaker officer of the unit. The cadets have won several accolades in the initial years of inception itself. All the cadets who appeared for the B certificate examination passed with good grades. Many cadets have participated in various national-level camps. One of the cadets has attended the Pre IGC, which is a part of the prestigious Annual Republic Day Camp (RDC).

The unit conducted various activities during this short period. Cadets have offered a helping hand to the civilians and authorities to fight against COVID-19, by extending their services under the Ex Yogdan (Exercise NCC Yogdan) program. During the pandemic period, everything was exercised through virtual platforms, and there are several online programs conducted. When offline mode started, many other social service activities like blood donation, tree planting, etc. were conducted by the unit.
