Mathematics problem contests

With the aim of motivating the students, Dept. of Mathematics conducts Mathematical problem contests which are designed to challenge the students and bring the best in them to the fore. Every month, a set of problems will be displayed on the notice board. All are invited to solve the problems and submit the solutions in the Department of Mathematics on or before a stipulated date. A committee will verify the solutions and select prize winner from the participants. Solutions of the problems will be displayed on the notice board along with the announcement of the prize-winner.

The problems are of a very different nature from the problems students usually encounter during their college curriculum. The intensive occupation with interesting problems and the effort of finding elegant solutions give the students new experience and the taste of intellectual adventure.
